Since January, what’s been on my mind is getting back to work.
AI is changing the market for design jobs, and I’ve been learning the new tools.
I applied widely. These months have been full of portfolio reviews, recruiter calls and interview loops.
I’ve kept training through all of it. My personal trainer is in India, so every session is a live video call. Following him on a screen while working out is harder than it sounds, but I’m motivated, and I keep showing up.
In March I started interviewing with Zūm, a student transportation company. I spent the weekend before the onsite skiing at Northstar in Tahoe, then came back for a full day: a design exercise, a portfolio presentation and four one-on-ones.

This month the offer came through. On Monday I start at Zūm as Principal Product Designer.
The mission is what drew me in. It fits my years in mobility and logistics, and as a parent I know the problem of getting kids to school firsthand. First, I want to learn how student transportation really works.
